Hello Dear Reader!
Project Space Teeth was born because I wanted to get into FIYAH Literary Magazine (that dream came true when I submitted durning their following open submission. Read more about that here). Their then prompt was Spacefaring Aunties, so I wrote a queer story about Black women traveling space on a mission to kill a vengeful god.
From a 6k word short story, Space Teeth bloated into an entire novella idea that still won’t leave me alone. It’s very dark, a little bloody, cosmic-gothic (is that a thing?) and very emotional. But is also at its molten core, a story about burning down systems that no longer serve the people.
Now, I’m on a mission to finish this draft, get it all suited up and edited to the best of my ability, and begin querying before the year is out. I am nervous, but I also believe in this story and the power of the message behind it.
Early readers have said it reminds them of This is How You Lose the Time War and Parable of the Sower. I couldn’t be more thrilled with those comps. They are both written by incredibly talented writers whose stories I loved.Â
If you have any querying tips, please drop them in the comments or if you know of any agents looking for Black queer gothic science fiction.
I’ll be posting more frequent updates on my blog if you care to follow that journey. From the drafting process, the inevitable revision and all the way through the querying trenches.Â
Wish me luck y’all!
Until Next time 🖤

Project StarFire: Starting Something New
Hello Dear Reader!Starting a new project always comes with a lot of emotions. And that is because stories are little personal miniatures of ourselves that we carve onto the page and then reshape over and over again. Writing is often one space where I can fully express myself without fear
